Since our motion tracking algorithm is shape based, it is thus closely related to the characteristics, (and implicitly their reliability, reproducibility, and accuracy), of the LV surface shape and their variations along the entire cardiac cycle. In this section, we will describe a method which results in intrinsic, locally smooth curvatures(for related methods, see [7][2]).
